From 5 to 7 May 2025, a high-level conference took place in Assisi, organised by the WCC together with many Christian World Communions including the Roman Catholic Church.
Consensus began to emerge about the prospects of Creation Day to become a liturgical feast in Western denominations sharing a common calendar, inspired by the day’s ancient symbolism and liturgical importance in the Eastern Orthodox Church.
Societas Oecumenica was represented by its president, Prof. Dr Simone Sinn who moderated the panel with representatives from different regional bodies: Middle East (MECC), Europe (CEC), Pacific (PCC), Asia (FABC), Latin America (LAEC), Africa (SAEC). Conference proceedings will be published.
